Overview
Lake Manyara National Park is a beautiful and diverse wildlife sanctuary located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Although relatively small in size, the park contains an impressive variety of habitats, including lush groundwater forests, open grasslands, acacia woodlands, wetlands, hot springs, and the alkaline waters of Lake Manyara itself.
The park is internationally famous for its rare tree-climbing lions, a unique behavior that attracts visitors from around the world. Large elephant families roam through the forests, while hippos relax in pools, giraffes browse among acacia trees, and troops of baboons and blue monkeys inhabit the woodlands. During certain seasons, thousands of flamingos and other water birds gather along the shores of the lake, creating spectacular pink landscapes.
